The BBC reported that the prime minister issued a formal statement after facing criticism from the public and political circles. “I apologize unequivocally for those comments,” he said of comments he made last week while appearing on the ‘Bush Deep’ podcast with comedian Nikki Osborne.During the interview, three names were given to the prime minister. Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman and Rhonda Burchmore. Then he was asked to choose between three stars who he would “shag, marry or date.” The interview took place at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Canberra, and was widely criticized by the public for being in poor taste. He said, “Oh, Kylie, of course”.However, she initially dodged the question, telling the interviewer, “I just got married, just six months.” In response, Osborne clarified and asked “You’d marry Kylie, and shag her, and date her?” To which he replied, “All of the above. He’s amazing.”Many people commented on the matter and called him out for playing the game and commenting on Kylie. Independent MP Zali Steggall stated that “He needs to learn to push back, lead by example and call it sexist.” Shadow Communications Minister Sarah Henderson further stated in her official statement that the comments were “disrespectful to women, embarrassing to Australians and demeaning to the office of the Prime Minister. Rather than politely decline to take part, Mr Albanese fell into the gutter with his vile remarks, showing poor judgment at a time when confidence in Labor is crumbling.Although she has received significant criticism, there have been no public statements on this matter from Kylie Minogue.
