SS Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’ is back in the headlines, this time, after an image of leading man Mahesh Babu, as the character Lord Ram started doing the rounds online.In the photo that surfaced on fan handles, the actor is seen wearing a saffron robe with a bow on his shoulder. The scene in question appears to be in the middle of a rural setup. Although it is not clear if the image is an AI interpretation of the film’s shooting, it has made fans excited for his turn as Lord Rama in the upcoming film.The makers have so far only teased Mahesh Babu’s look from the film in a teaser trailer. This picture, believed to be a fan-made post, gives a clear glimpse of what the actor looks like in his Lord Rama avatar.Director Rajamouli had previously revealed that seeing Mahesh Babu in his Lord Rama avatar gave him “literal goosebumps”. He also stated that Mahesh has “the charm of Krishna and the calmness of Rama”.Another picture doing the rounds online, shows a poster of Mahesh Babu holding a trishul in his hands. While the image was shared last year, it has now gone viral after being featured in promotional materials of Rajamoulis’ fan interactions.The image comes amid renewed interest in ‘Varanasi’ after director SS Rajamouli promoted the film in France. The filmmaker had previously confirmed that the Mahesh Babu-starrer is a standalone film and revealed that viewers can expect an estimated 20-30-minute run. Ramayana:which was shot in IMAX format.‘Varanasi’, starring Mahesh Babu alongside Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is currently in production. Rajamouli recently revealed that the film has 80 days of shooting left before it wraps up and begins post-production work.The film is scheduled to release in April 2027.
