Sanjay Leela Bhansali actors are often described as a demanding filmmaker who strives for perfection on set. Veteran actor Yatin Karyekar, who worked with the director of ‘Bajirao Mastani‘, recently shared his experience of working under Bhansali, recalling the strict nature of the filmmaker and the lighter moments he shared with the co-star. Ranveer Singh.Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Karyekar revealed that he and Ranveer developed a close friendship during the shoot, although they were careful not to let their fun get in the way of work.He said, “Ranveer and I are like mates. We are very close. We have a dhamaal on the set. Sanjay ji is very strict, so not in front of him. But when we sit alone, it’s pure fun. He (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) is quite strict.” The director is God for me.”Karyekar also recounted that he witnessed Bhansali losing his temper with the actor Aditya Pancholi during filming. According to him, Pancholi scolded a junior artiste when the director intervened.“Once I saw him shouting at Aditya Pancholi. Aditya scolded a junior artist, so Sanjay shouted loudly, ‘Shut up Aditya.’ It wasn’t pretty. I have heard many instances about his anger. When a senior artist could not make a move, he threw a chair at him. He has broken many cellphones and microphones. I am so ready for all of this. Aditya was shocked. He didn’t expect that,” he added.Despite recalling Bhansali’s fiery nature, Karyekar was full of praise for the filmmaker’s creative abilities, placing him among the best directors in the industry.“He’s a genius, a creative genius. If there are two pillars in the industry – it’s him and Rajkumar Hirani. Both have different working styles. Didn’t even realize they were on the sets of Raju’s film. Everything is cool, calm. No tension. Everyone’s smiling,” he concluded.Released in 2015, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in lead roles.
