After years of uncertainty, hopes have once again risen for the release of ‘Dhruva Natchathiram.’ The long-delayed spy thriller directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and starring: Vikram received another positive development in court. The film remained unreleased despite being completed several years ago, mainly due to financial and legal hurdles. With the latest court order, fans are once again hoping that one of the most anticipated projects in Tamil cinema will finally hit the theatres.
Court extends deadline for release of ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’
At the latest hearing, the: Madras High Court extended the release deadline of ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ to July 31. Earlier, the court had allowed the makers to release the film before June 15, while directing them to deposit the film’s earnings in a separate bank account to pay off the debts owed to creditors. As reported by Cinema Express, the court also observed that the makers can ask for more time if the film is not released by the original deadline. Since the release doesn’t go as planned, Gautham MenonJustice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy’s team approached the court again which was followed till the end of July.
Financial conflicts delayed the film for years
The legal battle started again over the financial issues surrounding another Gautham Menon film, ‘Enai Noki Paayum Thota.’ Producer Madan, who has a 50 percent stake in ‘Dhruva Natchathiram,’ has transferred his share to financiers as part of a financial arrangement. Later, the financiers moved the court to prevent the film’s release until their dues were cleared, resulting in an interim stay. These controversies pushed the release back and forth, leaving the ambitious action thriller even ready for audiences.

‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ features an ensemble cast including Ritu Varma, Parthiban Radhakrishnan, Radhika Sarathkumar, and Simran, with music composed by Harris Jayaraj. Almost nine years after production began, the latest court order has renewed fans’ optimism. If all the pending formalities are completed within the new deadline, the much-awaited Vikram starrer may now hit the big screen, ending one of the longest release delays in Tamil cinema.
