Marvel Studios’ Avengers. Doomsday’ kicked off the box office campaign in spectacular fashion, with advance tickets for premium Infinity Vision screenings selling out within hours of going on sale on Monday, July 20.Tickets for the next big film ‘Avengers’ are on sale, five months before its release on December 18. Various box office trackers are reporting that the film is ahead of the presales for ‘Spider-Man. New Day’ in some areas and beat the ticket sales of ‘The Fantastic Four. First Step’ in less than two hours. Continuing the hype surrounding the film, theaters have reportedly added 3 am previews to reach 80% fill rates.

The early ticket rollout is limited to Infinity Vision auditoriums—a new Disney certification for premium large-format theaters that offer improved screen quality, lighting and sound. The move is part of Marvel’s strategy to secure premium-format screens ahead of the theatrical run of ‘Dune. Part Three’ is reportedly getting a three-week IMAX release window.

Doomsday tickets are harder to get than recent event films like Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, ‘Spider-Man. New Day’ and ‘Dune. Part Three’. However, Marvel Studios has not released any official presales business data.

Fans backed ‘Doomsday’ to beat ‘Dune’ at the box office

Following the release of the ‘Doomsday’ trailer, fans took to social media to share their reaction to the upcoming box office clash with ‘Dune’ on December 18.While the ‘Dune’ film franchise, directed by Denis Villeneuve, grossed over USD 1.12 billion worldwide across two films, the ‘Avengers’ franchise is the highest-grossing film franchise in history, grossing over USD 7.8 billion worldwide across four films. ‘Doomsday’ also comes after the huge success of ‘Avengers. Endgame’, which is the highest-grossing film in the franchise, bringing in over USD 2.79 billion worldwide.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, ‘Avengers. Doomsday’ has a runtime of approximately 165 minutes, making it one of the longest films in the MCU. According to reports, it is now the second highest grossing film, only after ‘Avengers. Endgame’ will reportedly get an additional 7-minute extension for its re-release titled ‘Avengers. Endgame Encore’.The film also features Robert Downey Jr. which returns to the MCU, this time portraying Doctor Doom, and serves as the first part of Marvel’s two-film conclusion to the Multiverse Saga.
