Kajal Aggarwal has successfully built a career in Bollywood and the South Indian film industries. While she has worked with many top Hindi film stars, she has noticed a reduction in her Bollywood appearances in recent years, more so after embracing motherhood. In a recent interview, the actor explained that his decision stems from the desire to prioritize meaningful roles rather than just multiplying projects.Kajal shares that the kind of opportunities she receives in South cinema are more in line with her creative aspirations than what Bollywood offers. He said in an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, “The quality of work I got in the South was not something I got in Bollywood. The roles I want – my priority is quality over quantity, and South gives me such roles in abundance, so why should I do average Bollywood roles? My priority is qualitative cinema. Language is never a barrier for me. I love the craft of filmmaking. It took me seven movies to fall in love with my craft, but when I fell in love, I was very honest.The actor also highlighted a key difference between the two industries. professionalism when it comes to schedules. According to Kajal, punctuality is one area where Bollywood takes inspiration from the South. “Bollywood needs to learn time from the South. In Hindi films, there is no time. In the South, they work by the clock. I am used to being on time, and I like it this way. In Hindi, the hours are less.“Asked about the actor who waits for her the longest on a film set, Kajal named: Salman Khan:. Recalling the experience, he said, “Salman Khan made me wait for the longest time, and I’m not used to it. I wonder what happened. He comes in the afternoons or evenings, so I go to exercise in the gym, which is on the set. I am used to the punctuality and discipline of South cinema.”Reflecting on the changing landscape of South Indian cinema, Kajal observes that female characters are now being written with more depth and freedom. She believes the industry has moved away from archaic depictions of women and embraced more progressive storytelling. “The South has now learned to write liberal roles for female protagonists from Bollywood and also coming-of-age roles. They are no longer obsessed with female navels. I have always drawn the line and never done such roles.
