Actor Eva Grover, known for popular television shows including Karishma Ka Karishma, Kora Kagaz and Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai, has spoken candidly about her previous marriage to Hyder Ali Khan, Aamir Khan’s brother. In a recent interview, she alleged that what started as a whirlwind romance eventually turned into years of domestic violence, emotional distress and personal loss. While the couple has been divorced for a long time, Eva also claimed that Hyder is currently going through tough times and is struggling to meet even basic needs.Eva remembers that she and Hyder ran away because their relationship was interfaith. According to him, he proposed just 19 days after they first met, and the two got married shortly after.During the interview, Eva alleged that Hyder has schizophrenia, a condition she said she was unaware of during their marriage.“On the third day of our marriage, I witnessed the first series of violence. He had schizophrenia, but even then I did not understand what schizophrenia meant. I hardly knew Hyder. In the 18 days before our marriage, I only saw his chivalrous side. But on the third day of our marriage, he started hitting me when we admitted that it happened. an interview with Siddharth Kannan: Eva further alleged that Hyder’s mental health struggles, coupled with excessive alcohol consumption and frustration after quitting his job to pursue acting, led to a steady decline in their relationship. She also said her parents tried unsuccessfully to stop the alleged abuse.“There were always bruises before, I would shake. My father-in-law and mother-in-law tried to understand him. They are still crying in front of him, asking why he is behaving like this,” he said.He also alleged that Hyder became increasingly suspicious and often accused him of incidents that were only in his imagination. “He began to think that it was not true. He could think that I was sitting with the driver or accused me of things that were only in his imagination. From morning to night, he would drink alcohol,” he said. Despite the alleged abuse, Eva said she stayed in the marriage for five years hoping things would improve. She believed that becoming parents would strengthen their relationship, but said that the situation only worsened after the birth of their daughter.“There was a lot of violence in my marriage. I tried hard to save it. I even thought that having a child would make everything better, but instead, things became worse. When my daughter was born, divorce proceedings were initiated and I was sent back to my mother’s house,” she recalled.Eva claimed that her injuries were too severe to be noticed by those around her, and credited her relatives and colleagues with encouraging her to leave the marriage.“My uncle, members of my shooting unit and everyone around me convinced my mother that I was in a terrible condition. I had bruises on my body. They said I wouldn’t live if I stayed there. Eventually, I got divorced,” he said.The actor also reflected on the emotional toll of being separated from his daughter. She said the boy initially stayed with her until he was three, after which custody was permanently transferred to Hyder’s family after weekly visits to his father were said to have become increasingly difficult.“I remained silent for so long that in all the chaos, my daughter was permanently given to the family when she was three years old. I did not see him for the next 10 years because I had no support,” he said.Eva added that although she will not meet her son for a decade, she continues to support him financially by contributing to his education.“I suffered physical abuse for five years. My daughter is not with me. I have not seen her for 10 years. I always silently send money every month for her education. She is 19 now and visits me once or twice a week. He is more mature than ever at his age,” Eva shared.During the same interview, Eva also talked about Aamir Khan’s relationship with Hyder Ali Khan’s side of the family. She claims that Aamir knows that she is facing problems in her marriage.“I heard Aamir sir saying that I did not take the right decision. That message reached me before my marriage through other sources, but I did not pay attention,” he admitted.Eva further alleged that Aamir has mostly stayed away from that side of the family. He explained that Hyder and his sister were not biological children of Tahir Hussain but from his second wife Shehnaz Khan in the past.He also claimed that during Tahir Hussain’s last days, Aamir took him to Pune to take care of him and that Hyder’s mother, Shehnaz Khan, was not allowed to meet him despite their close relationship.“Aamir Khan sir does not want to have any relationship with this family. When Tahir Abbu was in his last phase, he took him to Pune and kept him there. Even my former mother-in-law, whom Tahir Hussain loved, was not allowed to meet him,” said Eva.Eva claimed that her former mother-in-law’s health declined over the following years, and that she eventually suffered a brain hemorrhage and died.Before the end of her interview, Eva Grover said that despite the pain she said she went through during her marriage, she still felt compassion for her ex-husband. According to him, Hyder Ali Khan is currently facing severe financial difficulties and is struggling to survive.“Today, Hyder is not in a good situation. He has no home and struggles even for food. Sometimes someone stays in a chawl, sometimes a friend helps him. I am sad. Whatever happened, happened, but from a humanitarian point of view, he was my ex-husband.”Eva further claimed that Hyder was left without proper care and was surrounded by people who continued to make his habit of drinking.“He was surrounded by people who kept giving him alcohol. No one to take care of him. I just pray that when his time comes, he will find peace. He suffered a lot.”
