Since: Diljit Dosanjh‘Satluj’ was released on OTT and was removed within 48 hours, there was a lot of debate and controversy going on in this matter. With the CBFC saying that the film was released uncut on the platform without completing the certification process, there was a lot of backlash online over the delay. According to the latest updates about the film, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has announced that they will go ahead with a screening of ‘Satluj’ despite the ongoing OTT ‘ban’.

ANI reported that the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, also known as DSGMC, opposed the ban on the film and instead announced that they will hold public screenings and seminars on ‘Satluj’ soon.DSGMC President Harmeet Singh Kalka issued a statement on the same, sharing that the film is about activist Jaswant Singh Khalra and his efforts to investigate and uncover the alleged human rights violations and illegal cremation in Punjab that took place in 1995, and that the ban on the film is wrong.His statement further read, “Since this film is a biographical portrayal of Jaswant Singh Khalra, it portrays how a social activist opened people’s eyes to the truth. He discovered the evidence of 25,000 bodies being cremated as ‘unclaimed’ and raised the issue not only within the country but also internationally, highlighting the dire situation in Punjab, preventing events in Punjab.was very wrong, and it aroused great anger in the entire Sikh community.He also confirmed that the committee will conduct film screenings, and also have seminars explaining more details about Khalra’s life in various educational institutions. He added, “We have requested all the Gurdwara committee members to download and screen the film in their respective places to ensure that it reaches the public. Jaswant Singh Khalra seminars will be organized in every college to discuss his life and legacy. We want people to realize the impact a social activist can have on society. If one person can achieve so much, there’s no reason we can’t all work together to do the same. “

What happened to ‘Satluj’

In 2022, Honey Trehan completed ‘Satluj’ and applied for CBFC certification; however, the process was delayed for almost 4 years. Now, after much struggle, the uncut version has been released on ZEE5. The film’s theatrical release was blocked because more than 120 cuts were proposed in the final film, which neither the filmmaker nor Diljit Dosanjh wanted.Two days after being available for streaming, the film was removed from the platform. The streaming website also issued a statement on the matter, stating that they are grateful for the support ‘Satluj’ has received and that they are doing everything in their power to bring it back to the platform.This was followed by public outrage, with many people sharing illegal download links for the film on social media platforms.
