On July 13, the band shared an announcement on their official Instagram page, saying that Finch would no longer be joining them on their final tour. They confirmed that he was recently diagnosed with brain cancer and now needs a lot of medical support all the time.They wrote, “Our beloved bandmate, sister and friend Jennifer Finch has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. After multiple surgeries and severe complications, Jennifer now requires extensive medical care, rehabilitation and professional support at home.The band also shared a link to a fundraising page, set up by his friends and family to ensure he continues to get the medical treatment and care he deserves. The statement further read that the funds will be used to “help cover immediate expenses and allow him to remain safely at home with the care, dignity and support he needs.” The band is currently on their final tour titled ‘The Last Hurrah,’ which the group shared was deliberately planned to ensure that all four members perform on stage and interact with fans. They ended their statement by sharing that after the tour ended, Finch asked them all to complete it without him. They added, “We will honor his request while making his care and well-being our immediate priority. We love him, and we want him to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported him for so many years.”On the fundraising page, the band and his family shared photos of the musician over the years, along with a snap of him sporting a scar on his head, likely from one of the many surgeries mentioned in their official statement.In the link, they detail what she’s going through and list all the things she needs to cover with the money, which includes, “Professional home care, physical and speech therapy, medical equipment, and other essential care, covering home care costs that will allow Jennifer to remain safe and comfortable at home, recover significant out-of-pocket medical expenses and legal fees, preserve her Jennifer’s creative work on a significant creative project that is scheduled to be released next year.“The target for the funding page is set at USD 350 thousand, of which a total of USD 209 thousand has been received at the time of writing.
