England first Ben Duckett entered the record books for no reason after becoming the first England batsman to be dismissed on the first ball of the innings against India in One-Day Internationals. In Cardiff, however, Bumrah needed just one ball to end his innings. Earlier, India were bowled out for 233 in 44 overs after suffering a major collapse in the middle order. Virat Kohli he scored a brilliant 65 off 66 balls, while Shreyas Iyer he produced 66 tackles from 71 carries. The duo added 67 runs after Kohli shared a 60-run stand with them Rohit Sharmawho struggled with 26 off 47 balls. England’s pace attack, led by Jofra Archer’s 3 for 47, led to India’s collapse as the visitors lost four wickets for just 15 runs in 26 overs. Saqib Mahmood claimed two wickets, while Gus Atkinson finished with three as India destroyed a good platform. Needing 234 to win, England’s chase got off to a bad start when Bumrah struck immediately, making India quick and leaving Duckett with an unnecessary place in the record books.
