Caught in a very complicated, multi-jurisdictional divorce and custody dispute spanning India and Austria with her estranged husband, Austrian businessman Peter Haag, the actress posted a nostalgic throwback video of her three sons, Winston, Viraaj, and Arthur. In a vulnerable open letter, Jaitly rejected the common societal trope that “trauma builds strength,” detailing how the painful condition repeatedly broke him and left invisible scars. This emotional outcry comes close on the heels of Mumbai Police: registered an FIR against Haag under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for alleged domestic violence, physical violence and criminal intimidation.

Along with the video, Celina wrote a long note showing how the trauma shaped her life and the ongoing effort involved in healing from emotional pain. He opens by pushing back against the common notion that suffering is inevitably edifying. “The strongest people are often the ones who are still broken. People call me strong. But pain & trauma didn’t make me strong. They broke me, over and over again, until I had no choice but to learn how to heal myself,” she wrote.

Celina Jaitly’s recovery is an ongoing process

The actress went on to explain that recovery is not something that happens all at once. He shared that even though he feels like he’s found his footing again, painful memories tend to be unexpected, reopening wounds he thought he’d closed. During those times, he said he chose to withdraw from the surrounding noise and focus on coping with the pain rather than avoiding it. By allowing herself that space, she slowly picks up the broken pieces and begins the healing process again.Celina went on to say that the trauma took away parts of her identity, leaving scars that others couldn’t see. He noted that although people tend to attribute his strength to the difficulties he faced, he sees it differently. “Trauma didn’t build me. It broke me. It stole parts of me, left scars that no one could see, and made me sad versions of myself that I could never fully recover from. The strength people admired was never born from pain. This is from me,” he wrote.In closing, the actress noted that true strength comes from repeatedly choosing to heal, even while still carrying emotional pain. He added that the strongest individuals are not those who never break, but those who continue to find the courage to restore themselves, even in the midst of ongoing pain.

Celina Jaitly’s marital and custody battle with Peter Haag

Jaitly married Austrian businessman Peter Haag in 2010, leaving mainstream Bollywood before the wedding. The couple went on to have twin sons in 2012 and welcomed a second set of twins in 2017, though one of the babies unfortunately did not survive after birth. Reports last year suggested that Peter Haag had filed for divorce in an Austrian court. Celina said that despite having joint custody in place, she has been unable to reach her three sons Winston, Arthur and Viraaj with a custody dispute also unfolding along with various legal proceedings.

In a recent development, the Mumbai Police filed an FIR against Peter Haag after Celina lodged a complaint against him. According to reports, he has been booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for alleged physical violence, brutality, criminal intimidation and continued harassment.
