The Pakistan star has been suspended after failing a dope test at the T20 World Cup

New Delhi: Pakistan all stars around Mohammad Nawaz has been suspended for three months after failing a dope test during a T20 World Cup match earlier this year. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the decision on Friday, saying that the positive test was linked to “an act of cruelty” that had nothing to do with match control.However, Nawaz’s suspension will be reduced to one month if he successfully completes a drug program. His invalid period was extended to May 1, the day he began his voluntary suspension.

ICC to Nawaz

The ICC said in a statement: “Mohammad Nawaz of Pakistan has accepted a three-month suspension (which will be reduced to one month after completing a doping program) for violating the ICC Anti-Doping Code.”The governing body added: “Subject to Nawaz’s completion of the anti-drug program to the ICC’s satisfaction, Nawaz will not be required to serve the remaining three months of his ineligibility.”

A qualitative assessment of cannabis metabolites

A 32-year-old man tested positive for Carboxy-THC, an inactive metabolite produced in the liver after consuming marijuana. He underwent a dope test following Pakistan’s T20 World Cup match against the Netherlands in Colombo on February 7.The tournament was co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, while Pakistan played matches in Sri Lanka under an agreement with the ICC.

Nawaz pleaded guilty

The ICC said Nawaz accepted the charge and confirmed that the item was taken out of competition and was not related to the advancement of his career.“Nawaz admitted that he was wrong and showed that the drug was used out of competition, in an unsportsmanlike manner,” the organization said.After accepting the sentence and agreeing to be reinstated, Nawaz’s temporary suspension was lifted, having already served two and a half months.

Similar posts have been banned

Under the ICC Anti-Doping Code, Nawaz’s records for Pakistan’s T20 World Cup match against Netherlands on February 7 and all subsequent matches till May 1 were disqualified.
