The images of the obscene images soon went viral on social media.Leandro Paredes and Thiago Almada were seen fighting with Spanish midfielder Gavi on the ground. What kind of punishment will the Argentinian players face?
Under Article 14 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, players found guilty of violence are subject to at least three suspensions.The same limited ban applies to offenses involving: hitting, kneeing, punching, kicking, biting, spitting, hitting an opponent or any person other than a match official. Any suspensions would apply when Argentina play official matches.Apart from banning the players, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) can also be sanctioned if FIFA says that the national team has acted inappropriately. FIFA has announced that it has appointed a public prosecutor to look into the incident after reviewing match reports.In a statement, FIFA said: “Following the review of relevant reports on the final match of the FIFA World Cup between Spain and Argentina, and in accordance with Article 36 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC), the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has appointed an Ombudsman to investigate possible violations of the FDC in relation to the incident.“Further details will be revealed by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee once the prosecutor’s report is completed.”

The World Cup finalists are already facing another disciplinary hearing related to their 2-1 semi-final victory over England. After the match, several Argentine players displayed a sign reading: “Las Malvinas son Argentinas”. The word translates to “The Falklands and Argentina.”
