Anupam Kher confirmed Jatayu’s voice
As per an Instagram post from the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival, Kher has lent his voice to the character of Jatayu in the film. “Veteran actor Anupam Kher has been confirmed as the voice of Jatayu in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. The announcement ends months of speculation that Amitabh Bachchan will voice the legendary bird who fights Ravana while trying to save Sita. Director Nitesh Tiwari is reportedly promoting the scene as a major cinematic moment, with Anupam Kher’s voice set to bring the revered character to life on screen,” read the post.

In the film, Sunny Deol plays the role of Hanuman, with music composed by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman. While the first installment of ‘Ramayana’ is set to hit the theaters this Diwali 2026, the second part is expected to follow in Diwali 2027.
