Responding to the honour, Rajkumar Periyasamy said that receiving a National Award has always been one of his biggest ambitions. “I have always dreamed of receiving the National Award since my dream of becoming a film director. And it has come true today! God is truly kind,” he wrote. The director added that awards were never his focus while making ‘Amaran.’ “While writing and producing ‘Amaran,’ all I had in mind was to make the audience empathize with the lives of Indian Army soldiers and their families. The film has come back to our team and me many times,” he shared.
