Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay is all set for the final leg of his cinema journey and for that reason, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is one of the most anticipated Tamil releases of the year. The movie is directed by H. Vinoth who hasn’t delivered a very satisfying film since the release of Karthi’s ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’. With ‘Jana Nayagan’, H. Vinoth is expected to mark his comeback. Here’s a closer look at the main cast and the characters they portray.
Vijay, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol lead the film
Vijay plays Thalapathy Vetri Kondan (Vetri), IPS, an upright cop whose journey becomes an emotional and action-packed crux of the story. The character is expected to have some similarities with Balayya’s character in ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’. Pooja Hegde stars as Kayal, reuniting with Vijay after ‘Beast’. Bollywood actor Bobby Deol played the role of the main antagonist in the film. His character is known by names including John Himler, Amrish Poojari, and Phoenix. Bobby’s previous Tamil outing was ‘Kanguva’.
Mamitha Baiju and Gautham Vasudev Menon play important roles
One of the most talked about additions to the film is Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju, who portrays Vijayalakshmi “Viji” Srikanth. “I always wanted to be in a Vijay movie, but now it’s not going to happen. When I was roped in for the superstar’s film, the first thought that came to my mind was, ‘Oh, now I won’t be able to play a role in a Vijay movie.'”Director-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon appears as Srikanth, Viji’s father and a jailer. Apart from the lead cast, ‘Jana Nayagan’ has an experienced supporting cast, including Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Narain, Nassar, Revathi, Sunil, Reba Monica John, and Nizhalgal Ravi. Reports also suggest that the film may include special appearances by composer Anirudh Ravichander as well as filmmakers Atlee, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Nelson. However, these cameo appearances have not been officially confirmed by the makers. The film is backed by a skilled technical crew led by composer Anirudh Ravichander, who handles the songs and the background score. Sathyan Sooryan handled the cinematography. Set on a reported budget of Rs 300 crore to Rs 500 crore, ‘Jana Nayagan’ ranks among the biggest productions of Vijay’s career. Meanwhile, Vijay’s previous film was ‘GOAT’.
