Indian all-rounder Kuldeep Yadav has signed with Yorkshire as an overseas player for the remainder of the England season. The left-arm bowler will play five One Day Cup matches before returning in September for three County Championship matches. His tenure begins with Friday’s 50-over clash against Glamorgan.In a statement from the club, Kuldeep was delighted to be joining one of England’s most famous clubs, saying, “I am very happy to be joining Yorkshire and I am grateful for this opportunity. It will be a great honor to represent a club that has a proud Yorkshire history.”He said he was looking forward to retesting in English. “I’ve always enjoyed playing in English, and after speaking to the management, I’m really excited to join the club and I’m looking forward to making a difference during my time at Headingley,” he added.The move comes just after India’s ODI series in England, where Kuldeep was not included in the three matches despite being in the squad.Yorkshire will be hoping that the arrival of Kuldeep will strengthen their reserves, especially with spin expected to play a bigger role towards the end of the season.General manager of cricket Gavin Hamilton said, “Kuldeep is a world-class player who will add strength to our line-up in these tournaments.”He added, “Because of the dry summer we’ve had, we expect spin to play an important role towards the end of the season. Kuldeep gives us another role with his left-arm spin and brings a wealth of experience at the highest level. We’re delighted to welcome him to Yorkshire.”Kuldeep joins a growing list of Indian players in regional cricket this season, including Yuzvendra Chahal, Jaydev Unadkat, Manav Suthar, R. Sai Kishore and Ashutosh Sharma.
