New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh shared a heartfelt message on the ongoing protests over the NEET paper leak, urging all stakeholders to ensure that children and students study in a safe and peaceful environment.Taking to Instagram, the 2011 World Cup champion avoided political comments and instead focused on the welfare of students, stressing that every child should have the opportunity to pursue their education and dreams without fear.“To every child, student, woman and man: you deserve to have the opportunity to study in peace, to grow and to pursue your dreams. Your well-being is the foundation of a bright India,” Yuvraj wrote.He concluded his message with a plea for unity and constructive action.“Let’s come together to build communities of care, opportunity, and hope. Through dialogue we can find a peaceful solution for India’s future.”Yuvraj’s comments come at a time when protests over the release of the NEET paper have intensified across the country, as the issue continues to gain political and public attention.
Parliamentary representation and legislative review is ongoing
The conflict escalated after the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) organized its “Sansad Chalo” protest in New Delhi on July 20, where protesters clashed with the police.Opposition leaders say protesters have been subjected to abuse and tear gas, charges that have fueled political tensions over the issue.The dispute has also disrupted Parliament, with the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha repeatedly adjourned. The opposition parties continue to pressurize Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign and have demanded a discussion on the NEET-UG issue which was brought up under an Act of Parliament.The government has insisted that it is ready to dispute the matter but has rejected what it said are some of the opposition group’s proposals.So far, Delhi Police has registered 10 FIRS related to these protests.The Delhi High Court also intervened in the matter, issuing notices to the Center and the Delhi Police in three cases of alleged excessive use of force during protests. The court ordered the authorities to preserve the CCTV footage and other electronic records related to the incident.
Manu Bhaker also expressed concern
Yuvraj is not the first famous Indian player to speak out on the issue.Earlier, two-time Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker expressed concern over the plight of students, saying that every child deserves education, security and equal opportunities.“Right now, it’s about the life of the future of our country. It affects us,” Bhaker wrote on social media.Calling the issue bigger than politics, he added that every child should “get education, security, and the opportunity to live,” while stressing that such rights should not be seen as privilege.Bhaker also said that it is heartbreaking to see students suffering and urged for greater accountability to secure their future.
