'Dhurandhar' actress Ayesha Khan DETENTED during Mumbai students' protest; shared a video saying 'I'm just standing in the street'
‘Dhurandhar’ actress Ayesha Khan revealed that she was detained by the Mumbai Police on July 22 for standing on the road near the Jantar Mantar-inspired CJP protest. He shared videos from inside the police van, questioning the lack of clarity. Ayesha had earlier urged the paparazzi and media to cover the protest in Delhi.

Ayesha Khan, who appeared in ‘Dhurandhar’ and previously spoke in support of the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar led by the Cockroach Janta Party and other youth of the country, took to her Instagram handle to share that she was detained in Mumbai Police: on July 22 for allegedly ‘just standing on the road’.

Ayesha Khan shared the video from inside the police van

The actress posted a video of herself sitting in a police van, saying, “My hands are shaking right now. I got locked up in a police van for standing peacefully on the road. I didn’t say a word. I didn’t even start a protest. I just stood there because my brother and my male friends got locked up.”

He panned the camera to show how many others were detained by the Mumbai Police, saying, “Everyone is in the van for no reason. Koi answer nahi kisike pass. Mene toh kuch bola hi nahi. I was just standing in the street and I was pulled and pushed by 4 to 5 women, left, right, center, just for standing in the street.”

Ayesha Khan questions the lack of accountability

In another story, he posted pictures of the police with the caption, “Been detained for standing peacefully on the road. #AccountabilityWhere?”. In a separate video, a background voice (presumably Ayesha’s) can be heard asking the police where they are being taken, but the police refrain from giving an answer. Sharing this post, Ayesha captioned it, “No answers!! God knows where we are going?”.

Ayesha Khan resisted as the police pushed her into the van

Another video captures several policemen pushing Ayesha into the van as she continues to resist. Sharing the same visuals from a different angle in another story, Ayesha wrote, “Unfortunately, 4 police women took me. But I was asked the same question again, why? Did I make noise? Did I start a conversation? I was stopped for what? For standing on the road? Not even in a group of 5!”.

“We’ve lost a lot of glamour”

Earlier, Ayesha appealed to popular paparazzi accounts and media pages to shed light on the ongoing CJP protest in Delhi. “…It’s so sad that I have no idea about it. We are so lost in the beauty, the beauty, and the controversies that we often avoid the things that really need our attention,” he said.
