Although this is the first time fans will see the character, he was teased in Season 1, Episode 7 while talking to Theo. She reveals that she left her home and ‘husband’ to fight in the wars against Morgoth and never returned. The character of Celeborn was previously portrayed by Marton Csokas in Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’ film trilogy, opposite Cate Blanchette.Describing his interpretation of the character, Bower told Empire, “This idea of longing and longing was very prevalent in Tolkien’s relationship with Edith during their separation. But Jamie is just as I imagine Celeborn to be. He’s such an elf.”
The showrunners praised the casting choice
Series creators JD Payne and Patrick McKay revealed that they reviewed hundreds of audition tapes before casting Bower for the role.Payne explains, “He has this voice that’s so rich and hypnotic and sonorous that it feels like it has the wisdom of the ages buried within it.”He added “And then we did a chemistry reading [with Clark]and immediately he felt that he loved her very much. It felt natural, and organic, and so right.
