‘Jana Nayagan’ is the official Tamil adaptation of Balayya’s ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’. The movie stars Thalapathy Vijay: said Vetri Kondan, a former IPS officer responsible for his late friend’s daughter. The digital rights to the film have been the subject of speculation for several months. Earlier trade reports said that Prime Video is in discussions to acquire the streaming rights for around Rs 110 crore. However, the reported deal is said to have fallen through after several delays in the film’s release schedule and an alleged piracy leak that reportedly affected its digital valuation.Following that, NDTV reports suggested that ZEE5 entered into negotiations with an offer worth around Rs 50 crore. Despite the speculation, the manufacturers have not officially confirmed these reports.
‘Jana Nayagan’ opened well at the worldwide box office
The film registered a good opening at the ticket counters. According to Sacnilk’s initial estimates, ‘Jana Nayagan’ has collected Rs 41 crore nett in India on its first day.The film was screened in 13,067 theaters nationwide. It grossed an estimated Rs 48.27 crore in India, while overseas markets contributed Rs 30 crore. As a result, the worldwide gross collection of the film reached Rs 78.27 crore on Day 1.The Tamil version emerged as the biggest contributor with Rs 36.50 crore net, followed by Rs 2.75 crore from the Telugu version and Rs 1.75 crore from the Hindi version. Across all languages, the film recorded a total occupancy of 41.6%, with Tamil taking the lead.
