Rajkummar RaoCourtroom drama ‘Prahaar’ has reportedly been postponed, moving away from its earlier planned theatrical release on August 7, 2026. The film draws inspiration from high-profile cases contested by the public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikamand the delay comes from the makers reconsidering the busy release line. The interest in the project gained after its trailer, which was attached to ‘Cocktail 2’, offered a glimpse of Rajkummar’s transformation and the court setting. A new date for its release, however, is still awaited.

The decision to release Prahaar was taken after stakeholder talks

According to Bollywood Hungama, the decision was taken after discussions with the film’s stakeholders. ‘Prahaar’ was scheduled to hit the theaters on August 7. However, the makers have now decided to postpone its release. After discussions with the stakeholders, they felt it was not good to release the film at that time.

‘Prahaar’ to avoid clashing with major releases

The period around Prahaar’s original release date was filled with big releases, with ‘Spider-Man. Brand New Day’ is set to hit theaters a week later, and ‘Batwara 1947’ and ‘Awarapan 2’ a week later. Because of this, the film is reportedly seen as important enough to warrant a more specific release window instead of competing with several high-profile titles at once. The manufacturers have not officially confirmed the postponement.‘Prahaar’ is one of two films from Maddock Films slated for release in August, the other being Shraddha Kapoor’s ‘Eetha’, originally slated for August 28. It may also be moved to avoid a clash with Yash’s ‘Toxic’, which releases on August 26. But no change has been officially confirmed yet. If these two reports turn out to be true, the August films released will be very different from what was initially planned.
