Maruti SuzukiThe upcoming Brezza facelift has secured a full five-star safety rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests. The model scored highly in the protection of adult occupants and children, reinforcing its safety credentials before its market launch. The results apply in all variants, although the ZXI + 1.5-liter 6AT version was used for the evaluation. In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) tests, the Brezza scored 30.41 out of a possible 32 points. It secured 14.41 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and a full 16 out of 16 in the mobile side deformable barrier test. During the frontal crash test, the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet were rated as providing good protection, while the chest and shins were rated as offering adequate protection. For the front passenger, all critical regions of the body received good protection, except for the tibiae, which were rated adequate. The compact SUV also did well in side impact ratings. Both the mobile side barrier and the side pole impact tests recorded good protection for the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis of the occupants, while the side pole impact assessment received an “OK” verdict.In Child Occupant Protection (COP), the Brezza scored 43 points out of 49, earning another five-star rating. It scored a perfect 24 out of 24 in dynamic crash tests and 12 out of 12 for child restraint system (CRS) installation. The evaluation score of the vehicle was 7 out of 13. Crash tests were conducted using rear-facing child restraint systems for 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies. The two child occupants received the maximum eight points in the front impact test and four points in the side impact test, which highlights strong protection for younger passengers.
