Navarrette also met with a legendary filmmaker who is currently in the casting phase for ‘Heat 2’, the sequel to his iconic 1995 crime thriller.
Considerations for future project and anthology series
Despite the flurry of meetings and opportunities, Navarrette’s next project is set. He will appear in ‘Invertigo’, directed by Matthias Hoene, which has completed filming. The project follows “a group of reckless teenagers who convince a young park worker to sneak them onto a rollercoaster before its official opening. However, a system failure traps them hundreds of feet in the air, forcing them to fight for survival as buried traumas and hidden tensions explode into the chaos.“Regarding the possibility of continuing the story of ‘Obsession’, Navarrette expressed nuanced views about the future of the franchise. The original director explained to the media that he already has a “great idea” for a sequel. However, Navarrette proposed an alternative direction to the expansion of the universe. “I think the beautiful thing about it is that there is no sequel. I think it’d be cool if Curry did the anthology series that he’s talking about where each is a different wish,” he said.

While Navarrette previously told industry publications that he was “absolutely” interested in an ‘Obsession’ sequel, he emphasized his love of the concept of the anthology approach. “Love![s] the idea” of the story left as a film, he explained, drawing a comparison of how personal memories work. “It’s like a memory, every time you look back at yourself at like 24, 23, 22 those are all fragments, and they start and end at a point. I think that’s something different about this story,” he reflects on the narrative structure and its emotional resonance.
Navarrette’s approach to capitalizing on his momentum
The actress embraced the whirlwind of opportunity surrounding her breakthrough role prioritizing career advancement over personal respite. “I don’t care how much I don’t sleep because I don’t know if I’ll ever get this opportunity. I really want to prove that ‘Obsession’ isn’t just lightning in a bottle,” Navarrette told the publication.Navarrette will next be seen in the survival thriller ‘Invertigo’, directed by Matthias Hoene, while continuing to evaluate offers for future projects, including the possibility of joining a major superhero franchise.
