The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reiterated its commitment to provide top security for India’s white-ball tour scheduled for September, with the board planning to strengthen its arrangements if required.Speaking on Tuesday, BCB security committee chairman Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed said the board has not made any changes to ensure the security of the upcoming team in India. In conversation with a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) before the start, expressed confidence that the tour would go ahead as planned.The development comes after the BCB recently invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) for its 2026 and 2027 international fixtures, including the 2026 tour of India, indicating growing optimism that the series will go ahead despite initial uncertainty. The absence of T20Is during India’s tour of Sri Lanka in August has also strengthened hopes that the tour of Bangladesh will remain on schedule.
BCB promises the highest safety standards
Relations between India and Bangladesh have been strained in recent times, which has raised concerns over the rivalry between the two countries. Security became a major issue after the Muhammad Yunus-led government mentioned security when Bangladesh participated in the last T20 World Cup in India.However, Ibrahim, who is also the son of Bangladesh’s Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, stressed that security is a top priority for BCB.“Security is always involved in any part of the tour, especially for the big cricket nations. We have not started communicating with them (BCCI). We believe there will be no complaints if the tour goes ahead as planned,” Ibrahim told reporters in Dhaka.“We always try to organize our events in a controlled environment and ensure the highest level of security. We will continue to do so.”He added that the level of security will be reviewed depending on the situation during the series.“It will depend on the situation, and if necessary, we will strengthen security,” he said.
Formal talks with the BCCI are set to begin
Ibrahim also confirmed that talks with the BCCI are still at an early stage.“There has never been such good news, and we are preparing the details of the trip. We are trying to establish communication through official channels because the trip is coming soon,” he added.
