Yamaha Aerox E electric scooter launched at 2.81 lakh: Range, battery and more

Yamaha Motor India has finally launched the new Yamaha Aerox E electric scooter in the Indian market today, priced at Rs 2.81 lakh (ex-showroom). Interested customers can book the e-scooter online or by visiting their nearest dealer; Shipments are expected to begin soon. The Aerox E is the brand’s second electric scooter in India after the EC-06. Speaking first of the powertrain, the Aerox electric is powered by a 9.5kW motor paired with two 1.5kWh removable battery packs. Together, they deliver 48Nm of torque, and Yamaha says the setup uses high-energy cells designed to maximize performance and efficiency. The electric scooter is claimed to cover up to 106 km on a single charge and tips the scales at 139 kg which is about 13 kg more than the ICE Aerox 155. The Aerox-E comes equipped with multiple driving modes – Eco, Standard and Power – along with a special Boost mode that offers a quick boost in performance for effortless overtaking. Braking hardware includes a front disc with ABS and a rear disc, ensuring safe stopping power.

The scooter uses telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. It comes with 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends, while disc brakes at the front and rear, backed by a single-channel ABS, provide the braking. A TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity supports turn-by-turn navigation, weather information and call and SMS alerts.In terms of design, the Aerox-E clearly carries the sporty DNA of its petrol sibling. The aggressive twin LED headlights and stylish LED headlight setup remain familiar, keeping the look strong and dynamic. What is new, however, is the addition of a TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, which replaces the conventional LCD seen on the ICE version. Yamaha says it has also tweaked the ergonomics to make the electric version more interesting to drive. The electric version also has a few minor changes, including blue accents all around and the storage under the seat has been reduced due to the placement of the batteries and revised styling.
