New Delhi: India’s support agency Ryan ten Dochate he didn’t hesitate after India’s successful run in overseas T20Is continued with yet another defeat. After being whitewashed by Ireland 0-2, India have now lost five T20Is against England 0-3 with one match to spare. Ten Doeschate said India needs to admit that it has not done well overseas. “We’ve talked a lot about change, it’s easy to say we have to change, it’s easy to say but it’s time we understand the process, what’s needed to change,” said Ten Doeschate.“I don’t want to stand up and defend the players and criticize too much, but the responsibility is on the players to have the mindset to accept that things are going well and look at the evidence in front of them,” the coach said.It was the first time since February 2019 that India had lost two consecutive T20I series. Back then, they lost 2-1 to New Zealand before losing 2-0 at home to Australia.England also created history by beating India in a series of two or more matches for the first time. India have won five of the previous six matches between the two teams, with one ending in a shootout.Ten Doeschate said the players now need to focus on performing well in foreign challenges instead of relying on how they can do at home.“Mentally and psychologically the team’s problem is to accept that we are not doing well abroad and tell the players that there is a big prize two years down the line in Australia. Do we want to be a team that breaks 250 in India and looks good hitting 80m six at Eden Gardens or do you want to come to places like Manchester, Southatechamp and Southampton he said.“This is an area where we want to be a successful team in different situations and we have the mindset to change. It’s a mental problem and we need players to do that,” he added.India will look to avoid a 4-0 deficit when they face England in the fifth and final T20I at Southampton on Saturday.
