Taking X after their meeting at the All England Club, Tendulkar reflected on their past friendship. “Some meetings never end. Our friendship is one of them. Always a pleasure to be with you, Roger. Till we meet again,” Tendulkar wrote. The reunion took place in another memorable visit to Wimbledon for the former Indian fighter, who was among the distinguished guests invited to watch Friday’s semi-final from the famous Royal Box. There was also an Indian Test player and ODI captain Shubman Gillwho experienced Wimbledon from the Royal Box for the first time. Gill, who is in England with the Indian team, will return later this month for the ODI match against England. One of the highlights of the day was Tendulkar’s partnership with the West Indies batting giant Brian Larawhich brings back memories of one of the most famous cricket matches. Even though the two fought fiercely around the world, they appeared together in shows and charity matches. Gill also appeared to be enjoying the occasion, taking a break from international duties to set the atmosphere on Center Court. The star-studded guest list also includes Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe, with many famous names from their respective Championship playing nations. On court, Alexander Zverev booked his place in the Wimbledon final for the first time with a convincing 7-6 (0), 6-2, 6-4 victory over Britain’s Arthur Fery. The second seed won the opening match before taking control of the match on Center Court. Fresh from winning his first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros last month, Zverev has now reached his fifth final and extended his streak in Grand Slam tournaments to 13 matches. They are now one win away from a second straight major title.
