Christopher Nolan‘The Odyssey’ has sparked excitement across India, thanks in no small part to its star-studded promotional tour that has accompanied the film’s buzz. Nolan, producer Emma Thomas, and actors Matt Damon: and: Tom Holland addressed the media at a press conference in Mumbai on Saturday, where Damon revealed to the Indian filmmaker that he had long wanted to collaborate with the acclaimed director. Shekhar Kapur, the ’20-year-old debt’ that Damon still carries
Reflecting on which Indian filmmaker he would like to work with, Damon revisits an opportunity that slipped through his fingers more than twenty years ago. “I remember when we started, everyone wanted to work with Shekhar Kapur. I remember when I couldn’t do The Four Feathers for some reason, I was very upset about that. I think I was signed for a Bourne movie. So, I think, he was always on my list and I wanted to have another go. That’s like a 20-year-old small loan I’m carrying around in my pocket,” Damon said.

Touched by Damon’s words, Kapur responded with the same praise as the Oscar-winning actor. “I don’t think there’s a filmmaker in the world who wouldn’t give their right arm to work with an actor who has as much emotional depth as Matt Damon. Who can forget his famous scene with Robin Williams, ‘It’s not your fault,’ in Good Will Hunting. I’ve probably watched it 1000 times and been moved to tears every time. “Future events... while Time is created by our imagination… so Time Matt, and I finally collaborated,” Kapur told NDTV.

Back in 2002, Kapur was set to direct the historical war drama ‘The Four Feathers’, in which Damon was originally slated to play the lead. Scheduling conflicts, however, forced the actor to step aside, paving the way for Heath Ledger to headline the film.
