Shah Rukh Khan has received legal relief in a long-running dispute over the renovation of his Mumbai home, ‘Mannat’. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition challenging the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance granted for the project, clearing the way for the actor to go ahead with plans that include adding two more floors to the sea-facing bungalow.According to ANI, the apex court refused to interfere with an earlier order passed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), which rejected the objections to CRZ approval.A Bank consisting of: Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana dismissed the appeal filed by Mumbai-based activist Santosh Daundkar. The activist challenged the order of the Western Zone Bench of the NGT in Pune, alleging irregularities in the permissions granted by the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) for the proposed renovation and expansion of ‘Mannat’.While refusing to entertain the appeal, the Bench noted that it had “serious doubts as to the bona fide” (genuineness) of the petition. The legal challenge stems from a September 2025 order of the Pune bench of the NGT, which upheld the CRZ clearance issued by the MCZMA and dismissed Daundkar’s objections. The activist later moved to the Supreme Court, seeking to overturn the tribunal’s decision. However, the Supreme Court declined to intervene, effectively upholding the NGT verdict and ending the legal proceedings. With the Supreme Court rejecting the appeal, the CRZ clearance granted for the renovation and expansion of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Mannat’ remains in force, allowing the planned construction, including the addition of two floors, to go ahead.
