New Delhi: India’s white-ball tour to Bangladesh is close to being approved and the proposed three T20Is against Afghanistan could be pushed back. According to the schedule given internally, India was scheduled to face Afghanistan from September 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.It is understood that negotiations are underway to push back the start of the short series to September 17, which would allow a sufficient window after the Tests for Sri Lanka to take on the short tour of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is keen to have six white-ball matches in September. Earlier this month, BCB sold its television and digital rights. This comes just a week after India resumed issuing tourist visas to Bangladeshi nationals, almost two years after it was suspended following the 2024 political unrest in Bangladesh.“We are optimistic about this journey. We haven’t heard a green signal from the agency BCCIbut they also did not say that they would not come. So we expect a positive response from the BCCI soon,” a BCB official told this website.What’s next for the new BCB President, Tamim Iqbalsaid the former Bangladesh captain has returned from the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland, with positive symptoms.The talks were planned last year but were put on hold due to political tensions between the two countries.After being appointed BCB director, Tamim told TimesofIndia.com that he was optimistic about the results.“There is a series scheduled against India at the end of this year. I really believe that India will come to play the series. This is one of the two-nation series that the people of Bangladesh are very excited about. Bangladesh did very well in the last series against India,” said Tamim.Now it looks like the decks are clear for India to take on Bangladesh after a gap of four years.
