Amitabh Bachchan always dropping his views on X and his blogs, but in secret. Many times, he is also seen restraining himself from expressing his thoughts. Bachchan’s ad recently sparked speculation with a post that read, “Want to say something, but thought – NO!! Don’t say it.While the actor did not go into detail, the message generated widespread discussion on the internet. Paresh Rawal: now pondering Bachchan’s state of mind and what could be the reason for him holding himself back from voicing his opinions so many times.“People are afraid. They are afraid of harassment by those in authority. In the past, some people spoke unapologetically. If you notice, the number of such people has also decreased over time,” said Rawal in an interview with Vickey Lalwani. He then reflects on Amitabh Bachchan’s political journey and the challenges the veteran actor has faced over the years. He added, “What will he do at this age? He saw how people tore him apart after the VP Singh episode. When power comes after you, it destroys your life. We don’t know what he went through. He suffered a lot.During the same interview, Rawal also talked about his own political career and clarified that his service as a Member of Parliament did not limit his acting duties, contrary to popular belief. Rawal entered politics in 2014 as BJP MP from Ahmedabad East. After serving one term, he chose not to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. During those years, his film appearances became less frequent, leading many to believe that politics affected his acting career.However, Rawal rejected that assumption. He said, “Politics never played a role in reducing the number of films I did. The number decreased because I refused to do it. I use the word ‘refusal’ and not ‘rejection’. Many times, I did not find merit in the scripts or the stories.” He further explained that balancing Parliament and films is not a challenge.“Even as a politician, I have enough time to make films. The parliament functions for about 110 days a year. I have about 265 days to myself. I have even reduced my theatrical films.” Rawal also delves into the circumstances surrounding ‘102 Not Out’, revealing that he was originally cast in the role that was eventually played by Rishi Kapoor.The film, directed by: Umesh Shukla and starring Amitabh Bachchan, was delayed before going on floors. While reports at the time suggested that Rawal was stepping down due to his parliamentary commitments, the actor admitted that was not the real reason.“In 102 Not Out, I was supposed to play the role that Rishi Kapoor finally did. I was with the project for two to three years. Then suddenly, I was out. I asked Umesh what happened, and he told me that someone refused to work with me. He never named that person. I still don’t know why I was fired, but I can tell you that it had nothing to do with my political duties.”When asked if he tried to find out who was responsible for his exit, Rawal said he chose not to pursue the issue out of respect for director Umesh Shukla.“I didn’t pursue it because Umesh is a friend. I asked him once, understood that there were issues, and didn’t want to embarrass him. I could have dug up the truth. I was the victim of that situation. I knew who wanted me out, but I didn’t want to say it publicly. I even confronted that person, but they refused someone I don’t know anything about it. They instead of speculating directly.“
