Speaking on a podcast, she revealed that the lack of awareness of the times scared her as a girl. The singer said that at first she mistook her first period for a serious illness and believed that she was sick CANCER.

In a conversation with Hauterrfly, Jasmine shared that menstruation was never discussed at home before she became an adult. Although her school later introduced the topic, she admits she was still unprepared when she got her first period.Recalling the incident, Jasmine said she was studying in Class 7 and living in New Jersey when it happened. “I thought I had cancer. I thought I was going to die. I was so scared. I didn’t know how to tell my mom,” said Jasmine. She added that many women go through similar fears because they are not educated about menstruation at the right time. Reflecting on the experience, Jasmine said, “Periods are a beautiful thing. But if you don’t know what’s going on with your body, it can be the scariest experience.”
