Pakistan coach Shane McDermott has resigned before the team’s tour of the West Indies and England, ending his tenure after almost a year.McDermott will not travel with the team on any tour, news agency PTI reported, citing sources.PCB is expected to appoint Mansoor Amjad as his replacement. Amjad has worked as a player coach with the Pakistan Shaheens and the Under-19 team.“Mansoor Amjad who has been playing coach for Pakistan Shaheens and under-19 is likely to replace McDermott,” a source was quoted as saying by PTI.Pakistan are due to leave on Monday for a two-Test series in the West Indies before traveling to England for a three-Test series.The PCB did not give any reason for dropping McDermott. His exit is the latest in a string of foreign coaches to quit Pakistan cricket without explanation.In recent years, coach and physiotherapist Cliffe Deacon has stepped down, while former head coaches Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie have also resigned.McDermott joined Pakistan in 2025 after replacing Mohammad Masroor as the national team’s head coach. His first assignment was Pakistan’s three-match T20I in Bangladesh in July 2025.Before joining Pakistan, McDermott worked as an assistant manager in Bangladesh for three years and spent another three years in the same role with Sri Lanka.Pakistan cricket has seen several foreign coaches, trainers and psychologists come and go over the past few years. One of the most notable events came in 2019, when Steve Rixon resigned after parting ways with the band.The Pakistan men’s team has also changed a number of practice coaches since Mickey Arthur took over as head coach, while conditioning and fitness became a major part of the team’s strategy.
