Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon return as Australia's name group for the Bangladesh Test

New Delhi: Cricket Australia on Tuesday named a 13-man squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh, including the captain. Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon return after recovering from an injury. The series, which begins on August 13, will be Bangladesh’s first Test tour of Australia since 2003. Australia enters the series in excellent form. The reigning World Test Championship are currently top of the WTC 2025-27 after winning seven of their first eight matches.Australia’s chief selector George Bailey has confirmed that the returning players are fit.“As you would expect, we won’t be locking down the XI yet, but we know that in these two Tests the depth is there.”“I’m sure there will be (future) tests where the group (Big Four) play together. Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon have worked very hard, individually and with the (fitness) teams, in the last few months to come back from their injuries,” said Bailey.

Busy exams ahead

The Bangladesh series will begin with the first Test in Darwin from August 13 to 17. The second and final Test will be played in Mackay from August 22 to 26.The two-match series is the start of a 12-month spell for Australia, which is set to play 20 Test matches, including tough tours to South Africa, India and England.
