“We kept our relationship private for a long time, about eight or nine months,” Blanco said in an interview with Spanish newspaper El PaÃs. He then revealed an important conversation that preceded their public announcement. “And he asked me, ‘Are you sure you want to do this? I understand if you want to just be friends.’ And then I said, ‘You know what? Avoid it.’ We are lucky because we have friends and family who have known us since all this, and we are surrounded by a good group of people we love,” he recalled.

Blanco explained that Gomez’s question about going public arose out of considerations related to her established celebrity status. Gomez, who rose to prominence as a teenager on a Disney Channel series, has built a wide-ranging career spanning television, film and music. He received a recent Grammy nomination for Best Dance-Pop Recording for a collaboration with Blanco on the song “Bluest Flame.” Beyond her music career, Gomez has become the most Emmy-nominated Latina in history, with numerous nominations for her work in television series and appearances in various projects.

Eventually, the couple decided to make their relationship official – and, at the end of the day, they tied the knot on September 27, 2025, almost two years after they announced their love.

Blanco, who has mainly worked behind the scenes for years, has spoken about her shock at social media and her privacy when talking about the public attention she has received over the years in her personal life. “I don’t like to reveal my life,” he told El PaÃs. “Famous people are always under scrutiny: if you say one thing, it’s wrong, and if you say something else, it’s also wrong.”The 12-time Grammy Award nominee admits the difficulty of keeping things private in today’s entertainment world. “I want to have more privacy” he stated while acknowledging that he belongs to “that transitional generation where social media didn’t exist when I was young.” He describes his current approach to social media as selective and strategic. “I choose to sometimes post a photo of my wife or some delicious dish I tried,” he explained, while continuing to focus on promotional content for his music.
Upcoming projects beyond the album:
The album is set to be released on August 14 which marks the beginning of an active period for the expansion of Blanco’s career. Approximately one month after the album’s release, his biography-meets-self-help book ‘F–k Failure’ will be published on September 15.
