Tom Cruise knows his priority while exploring the dramatic role of the eccentric oil baron, who tries to convince the world that he is the ultimate savior of the problem he himself created. During a press conference at Warner Bros. in Burbank, the actor said, per Entertainment Weekly, “My process is: I absorb, I absorb, I absorb. With the body, we communicate a story … I want people to immerse themselves in a story,” before adding, “When we’re looking for characters, how do we find this humor, drama, how do we find this humor?”
Detailing the color of the costume and the type of fabrics, she recalls all the decisions she made, saying, “[The] color of cowboy boots. What about my shorts? The sets, the color of the sets. They are beautiful on every level… Look at this man’s taste. It’s very special,” adding that he even put on fake teeth to complete the character.
In addition, Tom Cruise stated that each project and character has its own rhythm and music, including behavior, movement, and the way makeup is integrated into the drama. “So the behavior of a character, the movement of a character, these are the things that as we look at the makeup part. As you develop, you have to go, ‘Is this our tone? Is this drama? Is this comedy? Is it too much?’ You’re dialing it in,” said the veteran actor, concluding that acting is a lifelong learning journey. He added that the director helped him find the rhythm, “Alejandro understands music, and that’s the universal language we all find.”
“Digger” will be released on October 2, 2026.
