Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ has opened to a strong response in advance bookings ahead of its theatrical release on July 23. The action drama has generated a good pre-release business across India.According to estimates reported by Sacnilk, the movie has collected approximately Rs 14.94 crore in advance bookings for its opening day. The pre-sales came in by selling more than 6.45 lakh tickets in 8,876 shows scheduled across the country.The Tamil 2D version emerged as the biggest contributor, earning nearly Rs 14.69 crore from over 6.30 lakh tickets. The Telugu version generated around Rs 18.98 lakh, while the Hindi version contributed an estimated Rs 4.77 lakh to the total advance booking collections.

Tamil Nadu topped while Chennai recorded outstanding occupancy

Among all the states, Tamil Nadu delivered the strongest performance in advance booking with approximately Rs 8.03 crore in ticket sales. Karnataka followed with around Rs 4.33 crore, while Kerala contributed around Rs 1.36 crore. The film has also recorded encouraging pre-sales in Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.At the regional level, Chennai has emerged as the biggest market for the film. The city alone generated approximately Rs 2.66 crore in advance bookings while registering an impressive 82% true occupancy in 550 shows.Other centers in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, including Trichy, Kochi, Trivandrum, Kozhikode, and Kollam, also witnessed healthy pre-release ticket sales.Among the Telugu speaking regions, Hyderabad topped the booking advance chart with collections of over Rs 13 lakh. Additional contributions from Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Warangal, Kakinada, and other centres.

H. Vinoth addresses the political discussions around the film

Director H. Vinoth clarified that ‘Jana Nayagan’ is not meant as a criticism of any individual or political party.Speaking to India Today about the film, he said, “There is direct politics in it, but it doesn’t target or criticize anyone. It talks about unity and working for the people.”The filmmaker also explained the meaning behind the title. According to him, the story is rooted in democratic values, which is why the protagonist is introduced as the “Torch Bearer of Democracy” in the first look poster of the film.

Vijay’s last film before full-time political journey

It is expected that ‘Jana Nayagan’ will be Vijay’s final feature film before shifting his full focus to politics. The actor is currently serving as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.The film was initially expected to hit theaters earlier. However, its release was pushed back after delays related to CBFC certification. During the postponement, parts of the film also surfaced online through unauthorized leaks before the makers completed the certification process.The action drama has now received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its theatrical debut.Directed by H.
