During the preview, the evil presence shows itself familiar to Bela, causing great fear.

The film’s official synopsis expands on this premise. “Bela, an 8-year-old girl who lives in a household with marital problems, faces an evil entity that comes out of her closet. The presence, which she calls ‘Other Mother’, becomes increasingly threatening to her and her family,” the description says, placing supernatural terror within a backdrop of domestic dysfunction.

The Academy Award-winning performer has established himself as a compelling presence in horror films throughout his career, appearing in ‘Take Shelter’ in 2011, followed by ‘Mama’ in 2013. He continued his work in the genre with ‘Crimson Peak’ in 2015 and most recently in ‘It. Chapter Two’ in 2019, showing his range in handling supernatural and psychological horror material.
