Only minutes to go on stage for the highly anticipatedRamayana:panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, producer Namit Malhotra announced that the film’s trailer will no longer receive its planned global release on July 24.The update was a surprise to fans who expected the trailer to debut online after the exclusive presentation at Comic-Con. However, Malhotra revealed that the worldwide trailer launch which was scheduled for Thursday morning, has now been postponed.Taking to his social media handles, the producer wrote, “Today is a very special moment for us Ramayana:. My dream to take Ramayana: in the world today is a reality in our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.”He continued, “Due to the above, we will be launching our trailer globally at a later date.”Highlighting the global ambition of the film, Malhotra added, “With more than 100 years of Indian cinema, this will be a moment of great pride, where Ramayana: will be shown around the world like any major global Hollywood film. It is special because it opens the door for people around the world to discover the richness of our culture and our stories with renewed pride and enthusiasm.”While Malhotra did not make clear the reason for postponing the trailer launch, his statement came amid global attention on Indian student protests, leading many to speculate that the decision was made due to the tense situation. In his closing lines, Malhotra acknowledged the ‘youth’ of the country saying, “I thank all the fans and believers of Ramayana: to help make it happen. The youth of our country are our future. We will do everything we can to protect our future.”He ended the message with, “Jai Hind.”The announcement came before Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwariand lead star Ranbir Kapoor and Yash are scheduled to appear in Ballroom 20 during San Diego Comic-Con. The one-hour panel, hosted by Coy Jandreau, is expected to feature exclusive footage from the film, with attendees getting a first look at the trailer and glimpses of the ambitious epic retelling.‘Ramayana’ was one of the biggest international showcases at this year’s Comic-Con and also received a special mention under the event’s “Indian Highlight”.Initial reports indicate that the trailer of the film is scheduled to be released at 10 am IST with the official page of PVR Pictures listing the trailer release date and time. The revised release date for the trailer is still awaited.With Sony Pictures now on board, it remains to be seen if the clip will now arrive next week, which will coincide with the release of ‘Spider-Man. New Day’. The Tom Holland starrer is already tracking a huge opening at the Indian and global box office for its release on July 30, prompting buzz that the trailer might just be included in the film, for fans to watch it on big screens.
