Ranbir Kapoor has opened up about the emotional toll of stepping into the role of Lord Rama in ‘Ramayana’, admitting that his initial reaction was one of fear and uncertainty. Speaking at a panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con with director Nitesh Tiwari, co-star Yash and producer Namit Malhotra, the actor said that initial self-doubt gradually transformed into gratitude as he embraced the ambitious mythological epic.

Ranbir Kapoor reflects on accepting the role

Recalling his reaction when he was first approached for the film, Ranbir admits that he questioned whether he was worthy of portraying one of the most revered figures in Indian mythology.He said, “I remember when the film was first offered to me, there was so much fear, so much doubt. ‘Can I do it, am I good enough?’ But I think that skepticism turned to gratitude very early on. I think it’s a blessing, a lifetime opportunity, and a moral responsibility.”The actor also spoke about the eternal relevance of the epic and the lasting influence of Lord Rama across generations.He added, “The Ramayana is rooted in our subconscious. Lord Rama has been the keeper of the conscience of millions of people around the world for generations, for more than 4000 years. He is a person who embodies the triumph of the human spirit in times of adversity. He stands for courage, compassion, forgiveness, righteousness, and just having the opportunity to represent.”Ranbir shared that when the work on the film started, he realized that the responsibility can be fulfilled only through sincerity and faith. According to him, the entire cast and crew remain committed to presenting the story honestly.He said, “Very early on, I understood that it just takes a lot of faith, a lot of faith, a lot of truth, and noble intentions.

Yash came out in support of Ranbir Kapoor

Co-star Yash also responded to the discussion about Ranbir’s casting, saying that the actor’s humility itself proved why he was right for the role. He praised Ranbir’s dedication and acknowledged the challenges of portraying Lord Rama.Yash said, “No one in this world can go and say, ‘I have the virtue to play Lord Rama’. The trailer launch of ‘Ramayana’ has been postponed

The team is expected to unveil the first trailer of ‘Ramayana’ to the world during its appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con. However, producer Namit Malhotra has announced that the launch has been postponed after the project’s partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment.Sharing the update on social media, he wrote, “Today is a very special moment for our ‘Ramayana’, my dream to bring Ramayana to the world is now a reality with our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. Due to the above, we will be launching our trailer today globally at a later date. “He added, “In over 100 years of Indian cinema it will be a moment of great pride where Ramayana will be shown around the world like any major global Hollywood movie. It is special because it opens the door for the people of the world to discover the richness of our culture and our stories with renewed pride and enthusiasm.”

About ‘Ramayana’

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ is planned as a two-part cinematic saga. The film has Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash in an important role. The ensemble cast also includes Ravie Dubey, Sunny Deol, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor. The first installment is set to hit theaters this November.
