After portraying a wide range of memorable characters—from a rebellious musician to a deaf-mute man and even an unstoppable force driven by revenge, Ranbir Kapoor believed that stepping into the role of Lord Rama was one of the most significant challenges of his career. Speaking at Fanversation on the sidelines of the event, the actor reflected on the extensive preparation that went into portraying Lord Rama.Talking about whether his preparation included a major physical transformation, Ranbir stressed that the mental and spiritual journey is more important. “I always feel that kind of preparation, making a body or action and dance, is kind of easy because it’s a bit superficial. But to really understand the philosophy of Lord Rama at this time and at this point in my life, it’s really important to embody this character. You want to give your best and be simple and uncomplicated. You want to be someone that someone in their 80s can relate to. Understanding Lord Rama’s teachings is more important than superficial change.”The actor revealed that his process involved deep study, guidance from scholars, and years of spiritual discipline. Explaining how he approached the mindset of the character, he said, “I read a lot, met a lot of scholars. I practiced yoga for two years. I had a teacher called Suvir who used to sit and meditate with me for hours to really bring me closer to the teachings of Lord Rama. This is the true understanding of the text because we have that. There are many versions and iterations.The Ramayana team also attended the San Diego Comic-Con for the much anticipated global unveiling of the film’s trailer. However, just hours before the scheduled release at 8 AM on Friday, the launch was postponed.Announcing the decision on social media, producer Namit Malhotra wrote, “Today is a very special moment for our “Ramayana”, my dream to bring Ramayana to the world is now a reality with our partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. In light of the above we will launch our trailer today worldwide at a later date. “With more than 100 years of Indian cinema it will be a moment of great pride where Ramayana will be shown globally like any major global Hollywood film. It is special because it opens the door for the people of the world to discover the richness of our culture and our stories with renewed pride and enthusiasm.”Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana was released as a two-part cinematic saga. The first installment is scheduled to hit theaters this November. Starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, the film features: Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.
