Sunny Deol and: Akshaye Khanna is all set and ready to return to the small screen with ‘Ikka’, which is set to release soon. The pairing has been one of the most anticipated recently. During one of his latest interviews, the film director, Siddharth P Malhotraweighed in on the project, how he did the casting and more.
Siddharth P Malhotra talks about ‘Ikka’
While talking to India Today, the popular director, who is also known for his work in ‘Kaafir’, ‘Tribhanga’, and ‘Maharaj’, to name a few, shared some insights about his upcoming project, ‘Ikka.’ He shared during the interview that one of the easiest parts of the film was assembling the cast. Apart from Khanna and Deol, the film also stars Dia Mirza and: Tillotama Shome: as well.He shared, “Actually, the cast was the easiest part. Whoever I approached for this film said yes on the first go. To say that it was difficult is a true lie. This is the power of the script. The script is very good. Luckily, they saw Maharaj. They have seen my work before. They know me because of my father, my grandfather and my trusted person. They liked the script so, everyone immediately came on board.He added that one of the most important things he considered on set was the fact that everyone should have some kind of respect for each other. He added, “The one thing that no one is prepared for is that every actor comes with their own personality and their own life. That’s not just Sunny Deol or Akshaye Khanna. That’s everyone who walks on a set.”

He also added that he likes to work with veteran actors, and nothing needs to be changed during filming. He mentioned that “There is no other opposition. I will only work with actors from that generation. I have worked with Rani:Kajol and Kareena—they are the best people to work with.”He also revealed that many veteran actors now avoid working with many people at once, and that they were able to blend in properly in the film. He added, “They sit with you, bond with you, talk about scenes and talk about life,” he said. They give you what you need in one or two takes. You don’t spend hours shooting. They are consummate professionals because they have been doing this for longer than you can imagine.“As for how he keeps things going, the director shared that he often edits scenes. He shared during the interview that after filming all the shots needed for the day, the director will edit it and show all the people who are here. He also concluded that, “What happened was that they trusted me. There were no fireworks. They did what I needed because they knew where I was going to take the film.“‘Ikka’ is all set and ready to release on July 10, 2026, and follows a prominent lawyer who is blackmailed into representing a criminal in court. Overwhelmed with saving everything that is about to be lost, the lawyer does everything in his power to overcome the challenge before time runs out.
