New Delhi: The fateful tour of the Indian cricket team in the United Kingdom has resulted Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a detailed review of the men’s T20I team, with secretary Devajit Saikia confirming that the team’s performance will come under the scanner once the England tour is over.The announcement comes after the reigning T20 World Cup champions suffered a crushing nine-wicket defeat against England in Bristol, giving the hosts an unbeaten 3-0 lead in five matches.Speaking to IANS from Edinburgh, where the ICC’s annual conference is being held, Saikia acknowledged that India is going through a rough patch but expressed confidence that the organization will recognize the problems and work to fix them.
‘The team will be reviewed after the series’
“The thing is very simple. The Indian T20I team is going through a bad phase in their matches against England and Ireland already. So, we have to comment once the series is over. At the moment, a bad phase is happening in terms of the performance of the men’s T20I team,” said Saikia.“Therefore, we will have to look at the problems they are facing, and we will try to review them in detail after the series is over,” he added.Saikia also confirmed the timing of the match, saying: “The review will take place soon after the ODI series ends in England on July 19.”

England made light work of chasing captain Harry Brook (79 not out) and Phil Salt (59 not out) put together an unbeaten partnership to seal victory with just over six overs to spare.The defeat has highlighted several challenges for the Indian side. With the batsmen struggling to adapt to the seam, the bowling has been absent from all-rounder Hardik Pandya and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, while the game has again fallen short of the high standards expected of the defending champions.With only the fifth T20I remaining in Southampton before attention shifts to the three-match ODI series, India will be keen to end the losing streak for good.
