Chhaya Kadamthe National Award-winning actor, dives into his most dramatic look yet in the upcoming horror-comedy ‘Bhootam Bhayam’. His first look, from the film written and directed by Ramchandra Arun: Gaonkar, portraying a rough, ghostly figure with a piercing gaze, mixes old folk-tale-style horror with the film’s lighter, funnier moments.
Why did the character attract him to the project?
In an interview with Variety India, Chhaya spoke about her look, though the makers kept the plot under wraps. Kadam shared that the sheer uniqueness of his character immediately attracted him to the project. He explained, “This is a story of friendship between young children, so I have no doubts that it will be energetic. As an actor, I am forced to do something different with each role. That is something I will pay attention to. Ramchandra portrays a character from a different world. His looks, speech and laughter – everything is amazing. He said his language would be nonsense. So I know that I have to learn more things and work on more things, which I have always wanted.
Didn’t recognize himself in the look test
The director gave him a rough idea of what the character would look like, but Kadam said he was not ready for the final look. He shared, “He gave me an idea of what the character would look like, and why I needed him. But honestly, even then, I didn’t know what I would look like when I was ready.
