England footballer Jordan Cox has expressed frustration at the lack of privacy he has been given Virat Kohlirevealing that the former Indian captain was secretly filmed during his supposed silence in London. Cox, who met his Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team and mentor ahead of the England Test at The Oval last month, said no one realized he had been filmed until footage of the meeting surfaced online hours later.According to Cox, the two enjoyed a peaceful meeting at the restaurant, where hundreds of people passed by without disturbing them. However, the secret he believed he had was short-lived.
‘People Follow Him Without Knowing Him’
“What upsets him is that people are following him without him knowing. Hundreds of people passed by us, nobody stopped, nobody did anything. But two hours later he’s texting me saying, ‘Have you seen all these pictures?’ I was like, ‘What’s wrong?’” Cox told The Guardian.England’s cricketers admitted they felt sorry for Kohli, saying the Indian star would not get a chance to lead a normal life away from the cricket field.“It’s embarrassing how many people want a piece of him. They just want to go under the radar, enjoy and live a good life. Unfortunately, it’s not always possible,” he added.
‘Always Wants To Help Others’
While Kohli is known for his ferocity on the field, Cox said he is a completely different person off the field. The youngster praised Kohli for the time he invested in helping him during their time together at Royal Challengers Bengaluru, describing the Indian great as one of the most dedicated players he has met.“The thing I found most special about the IPL was the amount of time he gave me as a player and, for someone who has achieved so much, how often he gives back. Some guys think about their game, but he is someone who always wants to help others before helping himself. That is very rare,” concluded Cox.
Virat to return to the ODI series against England
Virat Kohli is all set to return to international cricket when India begin a three-match ODI series against England on July 14, following the conclusion of the ongoing T20I series. Before moving on to the ODI series, however, India have one last chance to end their disappointing T20I campaign on a positive note. Shreyas Iyer’s side are trailing in the five-match series 3-0 after consecutive defeats and will be looking to avoid frostbite in the fifth and final T20I in Southampton. On the other hand, England have a lot to play for even if they have already sealed the series. Harry Brook’s men are chasing a massive 4-0 win and, with a win in the final, could leapfrog India to become the No. 1 T20I team in the ICC rankings.
