Linda Noskova won her first Grand Slam title after defeating fellow Czech Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 Wimbledon Saturday’s women’s singles final. The 21-year-old looked out of sorts before the second fall, but recovered strongly to decide to lift the trophy. After sealing the victory with her sixth point, Noskova fell to the grass in celebration.Noskova dominated the opening set and was close to victory after leading 5-2 in the second. However, they dropped five points as Muchova fought back to make it five straight games and force a decider. During this critical moment, Noskova tried to block the crowd by putting her fingers in her ears and then covered her head with a towel after which it no longer worked.The youngster held his own in the final set to claim his first Wimbledon title. It was also his second grass court title this season, having won the Berlin Open a few weeks earlier.Noskova became the third Czech woman in four years to win Wimbledon, following Marketa Vondroussova in 2023 and Barbora Krejcikova in 2024. Czech legends Petra Kvitova and Martina Navratilova were both present on Center Court, with Navratilova watching from the Royal Box before the Queen of Wales delivered.The win will elevate Noskova to the career world No. 7 when new layouts are released. At 21, she is also the youngest Wimbledon champion since Kvitova won the title at the same age in 2011. Her victory follows 19-year-old Mirra Andreeva’s victory at the French Open, marking the first time since 2003 that a player aged 21 or younger has won Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year.
