The two met during their college days, and despite not being in touch with each other for a while, they both still found their way back to each other. In one of his recent interviews, the actor recalled how they met for the first time, and how everything went smoothly for both of them.
Paresh: Rawal: remembers meeting Swaroop Sampat decades ago
The veteran actor recently sat down for an interview with Vicky Lalwani. While talking about Paresh Rawal’s controversies with Akshay Kumar and other things, Lalwani also asked him about his relationship with his wife, Swaroop Sampat. Rawal admitted that the flow of both of them was smooth during their relationship, and even their parents did not oppose their union at that time.While talking about how things turned out for them, Rawal said, “Vicky bhai main ek baat bolun tumse mere jitna naseeb ka balwan aadmi maine nahi dekha hai yar. touch sach bolta hun. har mamle mein kisi ko hi bolna yeh ladki meri wife banegi. beti hai ye. matlab kisi ki bhi beti ho yah ho meri wife banegi are ho jana” (Vicky bhai, let me tell you something—to put it mildly, I’ve never seen someone as lucky as me. I’m telling you the honest truth. I mean, no matter who her son is, I just know she’s going to be my wife—and it happened.
Paresh Rawal shared that they reconnected after 4 months
First of all, there were reports that after the first meeting at a college event, the two broke up for almost a year before they got back together for another project. However, ‘The Taj Story’ actor shed some light during the interview and stated that they are back together after 4 months of seeing each other.More context he shared that he came and made it clear to Sampat that he wants to be in a committed relationship. He added, “Maine hi bola maine dekho bhaiya mujhe shaadi karni hai agar tu shaadi karna chahti ho to meri yahan hai na to mujhe yeh lets know each other and all that woh sab woh platitudes nahi chahiye mujhe, woh nahin chahiye commitment with commitment” (I was the one who said, “Look, I want to get married. If you are interested in marriage, then I am here. I don’t want any ‘let’s get to know each other’ stuff—none of the jokes. I want a committed relationship).Rawal also added, “If I’m not committed I can’t act”, further sharing, “Main jab commitment commit ho raha hun main aapse bhi commit mang raha hun. that time when you feel uncomfortable, that time you lean back se nahihin yaar nahin main is isme aage nahihin badhungi” (When I commit, I also ask for your commitment. If you feel uncomfortable at that point, you can say, “No, I’m not going to continue with this”.

Paresh Rawal and Swaroop Sampat met during their college years in Mumbai. He attended a college play in which Rawal was a part, which Sampat attended and was very impressed. He went backstage to talk to her and compliment her acting on stage. After he found her and told her friend that he was going to marry her, the two didn’t last long. However, later, romance blossomed between the two when they started working together. The two have been married since 1987, after dating for more than 12 years, and have been together ever since.
