Hollywood actor and talk show host Drew Barrymore trading in luxury living for a simpler summer adventure. Just a few weeks after getting a buyer for his extensively renovated home in Westchester County, the 51-year-old gave fans a look at his new temporary home, an RV.Barrymore shared a playful video on Instagram, in which she dances around a motorhome in a baseball cap and flannel shirt while Enya’s Caribbean Blue plays in the background.“I want to RV? Yes, yes. I’ll bring string lights and tea!!” he captioned the post.
A comfortable tour of his mobile home
The Charlie’s Angels star showed off the compact but comfortable interiors of the RV, offering followers a tour of its modest amenities. The video shows a small kitchen with a stove and a sink. Fans also found a kettle from Barrymore’s own collection of Beautiful by Drew homeware, which was initially resting in its box before being found unpacked and taped to the wall, presumably to keep it safe while the car was in motion.Barrymore also revealed the sleeping area, complete with pink bedding, and a compact bathroom with a small sink and vanity mirror. She wraps up the video by letting her hair down and taking a selfie inside the RV, where an oven mitt can be seen hanging from a hook on the wall.Fans praised the actress in the comments section for her grounded and relatable approach to travel.
A new chapter after selling his rural sanctuary
Barrymore’s RV adventure comes shortly after her spacious six-bedroom, nine-bathroom retreat in Harrison, Westchester County, entered the final stages of sale. The actress bought the historic 12-acre estate in 2024 for USD 4.4 million before listing it earlier this year for USD 4.99 million. The property, which dates back to the 1740s, quickly found a buyer and is now awaiting sale. However, transforming the historic residence into his dream country escape proved more challenging than expected.
Change has become a huge undertaking
Speaking previously about the project, Barrymore revealed that what she initially believed to be a cosmetic change turned out to be a complete structural overhaul. The extensive work included replacing the home’s heating, plumbing and air-conditioning systems, while the kitchen underwent a major redesign to create a brighter, more open living space, a process he said took nearly a year of engineering.Barrymore likened the experience to the classic film The Money Pit, joking that the renovation mirrors the struggles movie house owners face.Although the project ultimately turned the historic estate into a peaceful family retreat, Barrymore explained that the lengthy renovation meant her family’s lifestyle changed by the time it was completed. With his daughters’ increasingly busy schedules, a rural vacation no longer suited their needs, prompting the decision to sell.Despite moving from the property, Barrymore has always said that the renovation allowed her to indulge in one of her greatest passions, interior design, and she even chose to live in the house during parts of the renovation instead of waiting for the work to be completed.
