NEW DELHI: India’s ODI captain Shubman Gill he has thrown his weight behind Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharmainsists the pair will continue to be at the heart of India’s plans as the team prepares for the 2027 ODI World Cup.Speaking about the future of the two senior batsmen ahead of the three-match ODI series against England, Gill indicated that their place in the squad is not in doubt. “Virat Bhai and Rohit Bhai, they have been the backbone of the Indian cricket team for the past ten years. And they will remain an integral part of our team,” Gill told reporters ahead of the first ODI in Birmingham on Tuesday. The pilot said that the cost of the two continues to run, highlighting the many factors that lead to problems.“The experience and skill he brings to the team is obviously very valuable. We’ve seen what he’s done over the last decade in different ways, repeatedly, consistently, in multiple games, different games, different situations. “Gill’s comments come after the senior selector Ajit Agarkar He recently said that senior players should not be “tried” in any series, questions continue to be raised about the Indian reform plan.The 26-year-old also emphasized the importance of knowledge in any aspect of success.“If there is a line of good knowledge in every team, then I think that in difficult situations, situations help you a lot. Instead, the skipper sees Rohit and Virat continuing to provide stability where the next generation can be incorporated.
